FLEXED FOR FLIGHT : TIGHTLY COUPLED INTEGRATED NAV SYSTEM ADAPTS TO DATA FORMATS

This article describes a prototype navigation system for a miniature synthetic aperture radar (MiniSAR) system. Since the system adapts to different types of Global Positioning System (GPS) data depending on prevailing conditions, an extended Kalman filter was implemented. The filter is able to process varying combinations of GNSS data formats and features using different types of positioning. The navigation system is shown to be adaptable to other applications, such as photogrammetry, autonomous vehicle navigation, and aerodynamic modeling.
