TAKING RISKS & DOING THE UNDOABLE : AFTER A HALF CENTURY, TTX ENJOYS A STRONG BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP WITH ITS OWNER-RAILROADS
This special supplement presents a fifty-year retrospective of TTX. Originating in 1955 as the Trailer Train Company, TTX was formed with three owners: Pennsylvania Railroad, Norfolk & Western, and Rail- Trailer Corporation. It had as its primary objective to standardize and foster the growth of piggybacking rail equipment. The article offers three separate sections: a historical timeline of key events, a look at the next generation of TTX rail car innovations, and a discussion of how TTX manages its diverse and active fleet of intermodal, autotrack/reload and general-use rail cars.
