Immediate Actions (IAs) for Transit Agencies for Potential and Actual Life-Threatening Incidents
This paper describes how Immediate Actions (IAs) were developed as part of the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Security and Emergency Management Technical Assistance activities over the past 2 years. IAs are intended to be those actions that transit agency employees take during the first minute or so during a possible or actual life-threatening incident before they can report to a supervisor or communications center. These IAs were developed as a training tool and are intended to be modified by the transit agency to match the first few steps in standard operating procedures (SOPs) that pertain to these types of situations.
