Cycle Helmets and Road Casualties in the UK

This study considered police collected data on casualties arising from traffic accidents to see whether the predicted savings seen from a general increase in helmet wearing have been realized. Little evidence was found from data on road collisions recorded by the police corresponding to the overall benefits that have been predicted by the results of a number of published case control studies; no association could be found between different patterns of helmet wearing rates and casualty rates for either adults or children.
