Car Sharing in Venice

The Mobility Service Agency of Venice has been experimenting with car sharing since 1998., the year in which the first fleet of electric vehicles made its debut. The Venice system was built around the core concept of "easy", which meant that everything had to be simple, immediately understandable and usable, with the goal to convince the greatest number of people to change to a simple concept of vehicle pick-up and return, with reservation obligatory through a 24 hour-a-day call center that provides information and suggestions. The original car sharing experiment has been transformed into a structured system that offers an addition to collective public transport.
