Liege Airport - Plans with Wings
323 tonnes of freight in 1994, and 380,000 tonnes in 2004. These statistics illustrate the success of Liege Airport strategy, set up in 1991: staking its whole development on full cargo. Most of the airport's infrastructure was designed for cargo operations, and it features storage warehouses, a decompression chamber for security inspections and a completely new frontier inspection facility which handles live animals and animal products imported into the European Community. The present goal is to double the airport's activity by 2010 which would put Liege in 5th place among Europe's cargo airports.
