EFFECTS OF A RUMBLE STRIP BARRIER LINE ON LANE KEEPING IN A CURVE
This study was designed to find out what changes in lane keeping may be achieved with rumble strip barrier lines. The rumble strip barrier line was also compared to only re-painting a worn barrier line. The study determined that the re-painting improves visual guidance of the road curve and thus is likely to enhance lane keeping. However, the possible effect of painting is temporary by nature because the visibility of marking tends to degrade during the course of time. Including rumble strips may reduce the need for frequent re-painting of barriers.
