TIRE PRESSURE : WITH TOUGHER DEMANDS APPLYING THE HEAT, MANUFACTURERS CREATE THE IDEAL ROLLER
Laydown and compaction methodology experimentation is reported on this article on road building technology. The author describes the challenges of laying Superpave, which is designed to withstand heavy compaction by big trucks. The answer came in the form of vibratory rollers, which massage hot Superpave into road grooves as it is compacted. Time and labor costs remain prohibitive with Superpave. Changing the Superpave mix design and using a hybrid vibratory- pneumatic roller can help to solve density and compaction problems.
