WORLDSID DUMMY HEAD-NECK BIOFIDELITY RESPONSE
This report presents findings of the evaluation of the WorldSID pre-production dummy. The WorldSID dummy was evaluated against five test conditions that have been used to define biofidelity impact response targets. It was found that the repeatability performance of the dummy was good for most oblique and all lateral test parameters. The study was undertaken because the nature of head-neck interactions in traffic accidents is likely to change, given the rapid evolution in side impact protection technology that has been taking place. Therefore, it is felt that the newest generation of anthropomorphic test devices should reliably predict head-neck kinematics and be useful for providing measurements that are meaningful when assessing neck and head injury.
