CRUISING THROUGH CHECK-IN : REMOTE AIRLINE CHECK-INS DEMONSTRABLY EASE THE CHECK-IN PROCESS FOR TRAVELLERS
This article relates how two cruise lines will be implementing a remote airline check-in system for their guests onboard cruise ships. The advantages to such a system, beyond the ease and convenience that it brings to passengers, can be seen in the streamlining of airport operations. The system offers peak traffic management by reducing the number of queues that would form when cruise ship passengers line up at airports for the check-in process. Remote check-ins also offer airports the ability to gain capacity without expanding facilities. Finally, by distributing the check-in beyond the airport, travelers have added time to contribute to the local economy.
