The Kansas City (KC) Scout Transportation System provides the city with advanced traffic management strategies and technology to prevent traffic congestion. The Scout uses a system of sensors, cameras and computers to compile data of Kansas City's traffic congestion, and analyze the data in real time. The results and subsequent advisories are then distributed through dynamic message signs, the Internet, highway advisory radio and Scout broadcast warnings. The Scout system also supports the Missouri and Kansas Motor Assist programs as well as AMBER Alert. The KC Scout System covers more than 136 cities across 11 counties, which forces the project to work through cooperation.
