Vibration Control of Railway Bridges under High-Speed Trains Using Multiple Tuned Mass Dampers
In this paper, multiple tuned mass dampers (MTMDs) are considered for suppressing the vibration of railway bridges under high-speed trains. The interaction equations of motion between the vehicle and the bridge with MTMDs have been developed. The effectiveness of MTMDs on suppressing resonant vibration of railway bridges is examined and the optimum parameters of MTMDs for suppressing the resonant vibration are proposed. The results indicate that the use of the MTMD with the optimum parameters reduces the displacement and acceleration responses of railway bridges significantly.
