NEW DATA HANDLING FEATURES IN MOVA M5
MOVA has been in common use throughout the UK for many years and TRL has been developing a new version (MOVA M5). A major feature of the new version is the improved way it handles the site configuration data. Efforts have been made to make the processes more transparent and robust. In particular it is hoped that with the easier processes, users will be more willing to use different configuration data by time of day. It is thought that there could be significant safety and delay benefits by changing various data to better suit traffic conditions. Downloading from a remote in-station is also permitted for the first time (although with some carefully considered restrictions). The hope is that engineers will be encouraged to try alternative data at different times which will help in understanding how to optimise the use of MOVA for different conditions and the potential benefits that can be had from this.
