SAVING THE DRESSLER RANCH : SCENIC EASEMENT
This article gives an overview of how a scenic easement was acquired through funding from a Transportation Enhancement Activities (TEA) grant that was approved by the California Transportation Commission. Designated a California Scenic Highway, US 395 runs through the historic Dressler-Centennial cattle ranch. The article describes some of the legal complexities that were faced in the process and how intensive teamwork by a number of agencies was key to the success. The scenic easement will spare the ranch from succumbing to the demands of development.
