IN-DEPTH STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF ACCIDENT DATABASES. PART 2: A CASE STUDY
The aim of this research was to develop a generic statistical framework that can be used to conduct basic as well as indepth investigations of traffic accidents. The proposed approach is composed of two main stages of analysis: the first is mainly concerned with developing cluster bar charts, where different characteristics and causes of accidents are portrayed in relation to variation of types of roads, vehicles and drivers; the second stage is concerned with conducting indepth statistical analysis of the collected accident data. The applicability of the approach is demonstrated by analyzing 1998 accident database for the main rural roads in Egypt.
