PANDROL VANGUARD ON VICTORIA LINE, LONDON UNDERGROUND
This paper describes the development of the PANDROL VANGUARD track fastening and its installation on the Victoria Line of the London Underground. The PANDROL VANGUARD system suspends the rail from its head, rather than pinning it down at its foot. In this way a fastener with a low vertical stiffness can be achieved within a shallow assembly depth, and without allowing excessive rail roll under traffic. This allows the system to be fitted in the restricted space available in London Underground's tube tunnels. Vibration measurements in the tunnel and on the surface have been made which show that the PANDROL VANGUARD fastenings are a very effective means of reducing the vibration from railway track in tunnels. For the covering abstract see ITRD E123713.
