RENEWAL OF THE FEEDER STATION 110/25 KV JANKOVCI AND THE REMOTE CONTROL CENTRE VINKOVCI OF THE CROATIAN RAILWAYS - CASE STUDY

Croatian Railways remote control centre Vinkovci controls the eastern part of the east-west double track railway line from Slovenian to Serbian border. Some of 25 kV, 50 Hz feeder stations alongside the line have reached the end of their service life. Additionally, the line from Vinkovci to the Serbian border was heavily damaged, almost destroyed, during the war 1991-95. Civil engineering facilities and overhead lines were rebuilt with no changes in construction. Jankovci feeder-station (power equipment), intermediate TSC Djeletovci and mid-point TSC Tovarnik all in eastern Slavonia, were refurbished in 1998-99. The Centre was built in 1970-71 together with all power supply installation for the electric traction system 25 kV, 50 Hz. The equipment mounted for remote control purposes delivered by Siemens, Germany was up-to-date then, but after almost 30 years of operation, the equipment could not meet modern requirements; renewal and redefinition was necessary. It was decided to re-establish the remote control of all power supply facilities eastern from Vinkovci using modern technology for remote control and integrating the old technology. For the part westwards from Vinkovci the well-maintained EFD (Siemens) technology will be used within the new computerised system. A new specially designed protocol converter was implemented. Due to its excellent performances, this protocol converter will be used for renewal of the other remote control centre in Zagreb that has been in operation since 1971. Software package PROZA R/F, based on QNX and RealFlex, has been implemented as a SCADA application. The scope of refurbishment works, some new technical approaches and the most important characteristics of the equipment are described. For the covering abstract see ITRD E123713.
