NIGHT TRAFFIC AND THE ZERO VISION
The zero vision is accepted by the Swedish Parliament as the basis for future road safety work. The vision is that in a longer perspective nobody shall be killed in road traffic. The zero vision is also attracting considerable interest internationally, for instance within the European Union. This paper tries to explain what the zero vision is and how the basic ideas behind the zero vision will influence the work, the technical development and the research carried out to reduce the comparatively high risk for accidents, injuries and fatalities in night traffic. Which possibilities do we have to improve the night traffic system and its components in such a way that in the future nobody will be killed due to a common human mistake?
