A mathematical model is developed to analyze the motions of a tower-tanker system. The buoyant tower is assumed to be pivoted at the base and connected to a ship by a mooring arm or hawser at some elevation above the pivot. The steady and dynamic loads are considered collinear so that the ship assumes a head sea position. A wave tank test is performed to check the validity and accuracy of the analytical model. Good correlations are obtained between the theory and experiment in all cases tested.
