OIL POLLUTION IN THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA

Sources of oil pollution in the Mediterranean Sea are discussed and an attempt is made to evaluate the input, taking into account the general characteristics of oil transportation in this area. The oil pollution situation and its consequences for the marine environment are examined. Finally, remedial solutions and planned measures are considered, with particular reference to the United Nations Environmental Program Action Plan.
