AIDER - ACCIDENT INFORMATION FROM THE VEHICLE FOR OPTIMISATION IN MANAGEMENT OF RESCUE OPERATIONS
The paper presents AIDER, a project funded by the EC within the IST program. The AIDER project aims at the development of an efficient Accident Management System able to improve rescue operation efficiency. The AIDER Concept is based on the idea of a direct co-operation between an On-board System for Automatic Incident Detection, to be installed in vehicles and Control Centers, dispatching the emergency calls to the "Rescue Services". During- and after-accident full information on personal injuries, vehicle status, involved parties and accident area location are automatically provided to the Control Center. This should lead to an effective reduction of the time of intervention and optimisation of the rescue procedures, so it can be possible to consequently reduce mortality in road accidents.
