TAIWAN'S HIGH-SPEED RAIL LINK CRUISES HOME
This article gives an overview of the construction efforts that have taken place on the 48km of tunnels on Taiwans High Speed Rail Line, which is also the largest known Design-Build BOT (Build Operate Transfer) project. There are 42 mined tunnels on the project, ranging from 92m to 7360m in length. The article details various rates of excavation, casting production, and lining installation. The tunnel geometry and construction methods are detailed, as well as the geology, outer lining support, and inner final linings. The article also relates how some general ground stabilization techniques and recovery efforts were needed to in response to drive instability.
