A NEW METHOD FOR SPLICING CONCRETE PILES FOR BRIDGE FOUNDATIONS

Despite many advantages, the precast concrete pile has not been used extensively in bridge foundations in India for lengths over 25 M because of difficulties in handling and driving. No simple splicing procedure is so far available for use without involving expenditure in foreign exchange. This paper describes a new splicing method developed by the author and gives laboratory test data on model piles to substantiate the effectiveness of the proposed splice design. /TRRL/
