CONCRETE PAVEMENT RUBBLIZATION USED AS A BASE COURSE FOR RUNWAY RECONSTRUCTION. IN: ADVANCING AIRFIELD PAVEMENTS

Concrete pavement rubblization is a destructive procedure that breaks an existing concrete slab into smaller fragments. the procedure is generally effective in reducing the existing slab into a crushed base material. The process was developed to eliminate the reflective cracking that occurs when portland cement concrete pavement is overlaid with asphalt. For this project, rubblization was accomplished through the use of a resonant pavement breaker. Resonant pavement breakers generally cover the surface width of approximately 1 foot per pass and require multiple passes to rubblize the full width of the pavement.
