A NOTE ON THE SETTLEMENT OFPILES STRUCTURES

Consideration is given to the behaviour of an unusual six-storey office block supported on large diameter bored piles founded in London Clay. The relevant structural details and results of the site investigation are summarised. Computed and measured settlements are compared and a simple method derived for estimating total and differential settlements of piled structures. This procedure is then applied to another piled building and again good agreement is obtained between the measured and computed settlement. /Author/
