THE WAY TO TOTAL DRIVING SAFETY

The article describes the four-day courses designed for training articulated road tanker drivers employed by Total Oil. Intended to combine practical training with theory, the courses are carried out at the Military Vehicle Engineering Establishment (MVEE), Chobham, Surrey, using 32 ton tanker vehicles. As well as driving theory, the course includes practical training reversing manoeuvres, hill starts and skid control. Lectures are given on braking systems, fire-fighting and first-aid. /TRRL/
