The article discusses a procedure in which a desktop calculator was used in conjunction with a digital inclinometer to give a quick interpretation of borehole data during a ground movement survey at a bentonite machine tunnel at Warrington. The calculator gives a complete analysis of borehole data so that a decision can then be made on the validity of the data. The equipment automatically prints out the depth, displacement and sum of displacements. The work forms part of the research programme at the Transport and Road Research Laboratory into ground movements caused by tunnelling operations. /TRRL/
