ORGANIZATION OF SITES FOR CORROSION PROTECTION OPERATIONS

L'ORGANISATION DES CHANTIERS DE PROTECTION ANTICORROSION

The organization of corrosion protection sites requries a satisfactory definition of the various stages of the work: cleaning of surfaces, application of the different coats of paint, control of the completed work. Planning must be very clearly defined for, in the case of the application of several coats of paint, several factors influence the smooth progress of the work; among these variables the most favourable meteorological conditions must be taken into consideration. The role of the regional laboratory responsible for control operations is to inform the contractor of specific anti-corrosion problems. It is its responsibility to see that the type of operations envisaged is suited to the structure to be protected and that the system selected is applicable under the conditions specific to that structure. Through the controls it carries out, the regional laboratory helps to prevent faults in the application of the paint and notifies the contractor of eventual defects. /TRRL/
