The article describes the Series B version of the Leyland National single deck bus especially designed for rural routes. As a result of a number of economies made to the design, the Series B bus is offered at a 10% lower price compared with the standard bus so making the new version competitive with other vehicles offering fewer overall benefits. The Series B bus is powered by a 150 bhp version of the Standard Leyland 160 bhp turbocharged diesel engine resulting in greater fuel economy. Although the overall vehicle weight is lower than the standard series a version, a full complement of 44 seated and 16 standing passengers can still be carried. /TRRL/
