TORSIONAL VIBRATION OF SHAFTING ON DUCTED PROPELLER SHIP

The difference between ducted propellers and conventional propellers is briefly reviewed, and the results of measurements of torsional vibrations on actual diesel ships with ducted propellers are reported. One LPG-carrier, two oil/ore carriers and one ore carrier were investigated. It was found that the torsional vibration of shafting on ships with ducted propeller was smaller than on comparable ships without duct. Order from: NSFI as No. 14449
