THE NAVIPLANE N 500 AND BUREAU VERITAS

The background and basic principles of hovercraft are discussed, with emphasis on french work and developments. The characteristics and performance of the world's largest air-cushion vehicle, the 260-ton, 50m O A length "N 500" are then given, with cross section showing the general layout of the craft. The vessel is capable of carrying 400 passengers and 45 cars, or 125 passengers and 65 cars. It makes a speed of 70 knots. Order from: NSFI as No. 14405.
