MV HOLLANDIA

The Gdansk Shipyard in Poland recently delivered the second-generation container ship Hollandia to her owners, the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij B.V. (KNSM), Amsterdam; she will link seven West-European ports with ten ports in the Caribbean area in the CAROL service, which is jointly maintained by Hapag Lloyd, Harrison Line, Compagnie Generale Maritime, and KNSM. The ship is the third of a series of six built by the yard and is fitted with a 40-ton container crane of the M.P. type, consisting of a longitudinal travelling gantry with a transverse trolley. The trolley can rotate through 360 degrees, and the crane has a reach of 12 m. Principal particulars of the ship are: Length, o.a.-204 m; b.p.-193.1 m; Breadth-30.8 m; Depth, to main deck-18.8 m; Draught-10 m; Deadweight-23,200 tonnes; Classification-Lloyd's Register 100 A1 LMC-UMS, RMC; Main machinery-Sulzer Diesel type 10 RND 90, output 29,000 hp at 112 rpm, driving a Zeise 6-bladed propeller.
