HIGHWAY EXPRESS BUS LOCATION SYSTEM
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is constructing Roads and investigating measures for effective utilization of public transport to mitigate traffic congestion and reduce environmental pollutants. Especially, extensive public transport offers more alternatives to people, encourages them to move among regions, and boosts economy. The effects of disseminating real-time information that is collected using the new information communication technologies on the use of highway express buses were investigated, and a system was developed for monitoring real-time road traffic conditions using highway express buses as sensors. Based on the results of the investigation, a full-scale system was constructed and tested to investigate the feasibility, effectiveness and issues of a bus location system that can collect and disseminate the information that the users of highway express buses, bus service operating companies, and road administrators demand. The proving test showed that the bus location system is feasible.
