SITE APPLICATIONS OF SELF COMPACTING AND PIGMENTED CONCRETE

Heavily reinforced, high and thin structures raise a demand of advanced casting procedures. Such structures are difficult to cast even with fluid concrete. The use of self-compacting concrete, SCC, increases the production capacity with fewer risks in surface porosity and cavities in the inner parts of the structure. The cohesion supported by the fluidity and the stability of the material are the key parameters for a high speed casting procedure. The SCC material has been widely used in both buildings and advanced structures such as bridges. Skanska is also the contractor for a great railway hridge approaching central parts of Stockholm. The main challenge is to use red pigments for colouring the concrete without visible colour variations. The report also discusses procedures that will minimise different aesthetical risks.
