SHAKING TABLE TEST OF RC COLUMN SUBJECTED TO BILATERAL EXCITATION
In order to study the effects of the bilateral excitation on response characteristics of the reinforced concrete (RC) column, shaking table tests and the dynamic analyses using fiber element model were carried out. The test results showed that the failure of the cover concrete and the buckling of the longitudinal reinforcement were developed in the 4 surfaces in the case of bilateral excitation. It was also found that the dynamic analysis using fiber element model could simulate the experimental column behavior well before deterioration of the strength of column, and that the analyzed response displacement of the column subjected to bilateral excitation has the tendency to be larger than that subjected to unilateral excitation.
