ASPECTS OF LNG TANKER LOADING FROM OFFSHORE PRODUCTION PLATFORMS

ASPEKTE DER FLUESSIGERDGAS-TANKERBELADUNG VON OFFSHORE-PRODUKTIONSPATTFORMEN

Construction of natural gas liquefaction plants on offshore platforms located in the Continental Shelf areas poses the problem of tanker-loading with LNG in the open sea. And the technical solutions gained over a number of years in the offshore transfer of crude oil are only partially applicable to LNG. The major difference lies in the very low temperature ( - 160 degree C, - 250 degree F) of LNG, which means that the transfer lines must be insulated. This article discusses the technical and economical aspects of an LNG transfer system.
