COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN OF SHIP TANK HEATING SYSTEMS

Four computer programs for designing heating systems for ships' tanks are presented. Their structure, application, and calculation scope are described with reference to heating steam parameters, cargo type, tank volume to be heated (including type and size of stiffeners incorporated), area and capacity of heating elements, ambient temperature of air and sea water, properties of physical factors involved in the heat-exchange process, the effect of natural convection and forced convection, heat radiation, and ship motion. Order from: BSRA as No. 48,020.
