DEVELOPMENT OF DUAL AND MULTI-FUEL GAS TURBINE

Fluctuating availability and prices have made dual-fuel machines attractive to many customers. Liquid fuel quality has been uncertain during periods of temporary shortages and consisently poor in some areas because of contamination during handling. In special circumstances low calorific value waste gases, heavy distillates and crudes are all candidate fuels for gas turbines. Hence, a prime combustion development aim for Kongsberg gas turbines has been to make its products compatible with the widest possible range of fuels. The special design and operational features of the Kongsberg KG2 gas turbine which take into account these fuel conditions are described here in detail.
