SPREADING THRIFT THROUGH SALT CONSERVATION EFFORTS

Highway departments around the country are finding it necessary to make more than the standard logistical arrangements for battling snow and ice. The survey found that strategies are being devised which combine time-tested conservation methods, such as re-calibration of spreading equipment, with innovative programs to provide clear, safe roads for the public while still staying with a salt budget.
