A RENAISSANCE OF STATIONS, RAILWAYS AND CITIES. ECONOMIC EFFECTS, DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES AND ORGANISATIONAL ISSUES OF EUROPEAN HIGH-SPEED-TRAIN STATIONS

This work sets out to find answers to the questions of: 1) what urban-economic effects can be experienced from the advent of the high-speed train network in Europe; 2) what station development strategies can be expected in response; and 3) what kind of strategic partnerships can be expected between the involved urban actors to implement these strategies The aim of this research effort is to provide insight into to the potential economic impact of processes initiated by the renaissance of rail transport in European cities, into the way the actors involved have responded to new opportunities for their urban region, and into the strategies they have formulated to develop sustainable attractive station areas and the partnerships they have formed to implement those strategies.
