FRENCH COMPANIES SHOW OIL-RECOVERY EFFICIENCY FROM SUNKEN TANKER

This article briefly describes how a group of French companies recently pumped 2,500 tons of low-gravity crude oil from a sunken tanker in 360 ft of water off Northwest France. The job demonstrated it is possible to pump oil from this depth with an almost total recovery coefficient. The newly developed process using hot water to recover oil is described along with the oil-recovery procedures and equipment used.
