APPLICATION OF GPS-AVM SYSTEM TO AUTOMATIC NAVIGATION CONTROL SYSTEMS
In the Japanese taxi industry, vehicle management has been operated by radio for over 40 years. Automatic navigation control systems such as the AVM (automatic vehicle monitoring) system, and GPS-AVM systems have been used. These systems have improved in quality and vehicles can be located accurately with them. These systems have not been used effectively because of the increase in the number of private cars. Customers also cannot organise to get a taxi when and where it is required. After analysis the pattern of the whereabouts of taxis, an advanced automatic navigation system of taxis using GPS-AVM is proposed. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
