CONTINUOUS MEASUREMENT OF THE TEMPERATURE OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES

MESURE EN CONTINU DE LA TEMPERATURE DES ENROBES

The author presents a method for the continuous measurement of the spreading temperature of bituminous mixes. The apparatus consists of a thermocouple and a recorder. The difference in potential is a linear function of the difference in temperature between two iron-constantan couples connected together. When the difference in potential is recorded, the temperature of the mix becomes known. The author gives some information on the measurement procedure, its practical use, the interpretation of the readings and its use. The equipment has given complete satisfaction in the course of one year's use on sites employing gravel bituminous mixes, both from the point of view of a posteriori controls and from the point of view of instant control. /TRRL/
