POLE FORCE OSCILLATIONS CAUSED BY ARMATURE SLOTS IN THE ACTIVE GUIDEWAY SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR

Salient pole machines with a slotted armature develop periodic normal and tangential force oscillations causing magnetic noise. In the case of the active guideway synchronous motor, levitation and propulsion are affected. Here force oscillations are calculated by means of a finite difference method. Typical field and force distributions are presented. Suitable means for the elimination of pole force oscillations are discussed.
