BASIC BEHAVIOR OF SCANDINAVIAN SOFT CLAYS
The purpose of the present report is to make clear what factors determine strengths and deformations of soft clays. In the report is shown how stress-history and deformation characteristics affect the strengths that can be mobilized. A hypothesis for undrained shear strength and anisotropy is presented and compared with experimental results. Results from a comprehensive series of undrained creep tests are presented and analysed. The reduction of undrained shear strength in long-term conditions is analysed. /Author/
