BID PREPARATION IN SHIPBUILDING

The estimate review procedure and use of the estimate for subsequent budgeting, scheduling, and progress are addressed. Different bidding situations are discussed, including type of procurement, contract terms and conditions, shipyard facilities, type, size, and quantity of ships, status of design, extent of bidding information, lead versus follow yard, economic, market and employment conditions, as well as type of customer and subsides. Some aspects of pricing strategy are considered.
