TELEMATICS BASED TRAFFIC ORGANISATION
In the near future Telematics and Driver Assistance Systems will become standard equipment for vehicles. These intelligent vehicles combined with communication networks and infrastructure will allow intelligent organisation of future traffic and the establishment of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Intelligent organisation of traffic by means of traffic theory, communication systems and ADAS has a high potential for improved methods for traffic organisation and a better traffic flow on the existing road infrastructure. This will result in more driving comfort and safety with high traffic efficiency as well as lower fuel consumption and less traffic noise. This paper gives an outlook to a new fascinating field of future traffic management. Most of the hardware is available or under development. But theory and algorithms are still at the start.
