PERMAFROST PROBLEMS BEATEN IN PILEDRIVING RESEARCH

Northern Alaska and Canada experience with low average temperatures that the permafrost is continuous and exceeds a thickness of 2,000 ft. in many areas is discussed. Experimentation and field testing that has been undertaken in the last 10 yr. to find ways to install piles more reliably at a lower cost is described.
