TENTATIVE OVERVIEW OF ACCIDENTAL SPONTANEOUS CRACKING OF REINFORCED AND UNREINFORCED CONCRETE
ESSAI SUR UNE VUE D'ENSEMBLE DE LA FISSURATION SPONTANEE ACCIDENTELLE DU BETON HYDRAULIQUE NON ARME ET ARME
Numerous cracks have spontaneous basic causes related to the properties of concrete and accidental causes related to the hazards of manufacture and laying. The basic causes may be attributed to four aspects of the shrinkage of the cement paste: sedimentation, initial shrinkage, second shrinkage and long-term shrinkage. Consequently, there exist four types of fissuration caused by four types of accidental phenomena, and four categories of remedial measures. /TRRL/
