THERMAL AND CHEMICAL ACTIVATION OF HIGH FLYASH CONTENT CEMENT BASED MATERIALS. IN: CONCRETE: MATERIAL SCIENCE TO APPLICATION
An experimental study, conducted to evaluate the mechanical properties of mortar containing flyash subjected to both thermal and chemical activation, is discussed in this paper. The study used chemical activators to activate the hydration reaction of concrete. From a thermal activation perspective, the performance of the flyash cement mortar cured by high steam curing was also studied, and both methodologies compared. The use of R-curves to characterize the toughening in cement based materials was verified.
